BIOG
Laura McCarthy is a folk singer-songwriter based in rural Cork. Having grown up on a dairy farm and studied ecology and organic horticulture, she has a passion for sustainable living and the environment that inspires her music. She is currently working towards a concept album called 'A Landing Place' that responds to the biodiversity crisis, and her relationship to the land. Joined on this special evening by Tom Jordan on vocals and flute...
“Laura won first prize in the Cork Folk Festival Noel Brazil songwriting competition in 2017 with 'Cronin's Plough', inspired by Jim Cronin, an organic farmer who works his fields with horses in Co. Clare. 'Cronin's Plough' attracted the attention of RTE Radio 1 presenter Ruth Smith (Simply Folk), describing Laura as one of '..the new generation of Irish folk talent.'”

Venue Notes
What a gorgeous couple, two of the nicest people we’ve ever met, and that’s before we heard them play. Something so cool about being able to deliver something so original with a message, the combination of Lauras guitar and vocals with Toms clarinet led to a real magic duo.
